We proudly have chosen to affiliate with Sutter Health, a non-for-profit health care system in Northern California, which is among the largest and most successful in the United States. Sutter Health’s vision of creating an integrated health care delivery system is consistent with many of the successful national trends in health care. Together with Sutter Medical Foundation (SMF), our Sutter Health administrative partner, our progress is being watched by many across our country as a model for evolution from isolated hospital and physician organizations into one of coordinated care across the spectrum of our patients’ experience. Our leadership is both needed and desired by Sutter Health and by our country. The time for us now is both challenging and exciting, but it has never been more important.
In January 2011, four Sutter-affiliated medical groups merged together so that we could more effectively position ourselves for our future. As a medical group now with over 600 clinicians and a blend of 50% primary care and 50% specialty clinicians over a geography stretching from Lake of the Pines to Vallejo, we are well positioned to respond and to provide direction for the future of healthcare.
Sutter Medical Group has been recognized in many ways in recent years for our excellence. As an example, SMG and SMF were recognized in 2011 as an “Elite” medical group by the California Association of Physician Groups. SMG and SMF earned the 2010 Sutter Health President’s Award for Best Overall Performance in 2010, 2009, and 2006. There are many other acknowledgments which we have been proud to receive. However, we know that this simply sets the foundation for our moving powerfully into the future.
